Who can be a member?
Any student in SA that has a valid student number can become a member of Varsity Vibe. Age is but a number – if you’re a student (no matter how old), you can join.
However, if you are 16-25 and bank with Standard Bank, you can get access to Premium, so we also cater for the youth that are not students.
What do I need to become a Varsity Vibe member?
You need to:
- be a registered student in South Africa;
- own an Apple or Android compatible phone/device; and
- be able to pay the R200 membership fee
(remember that’s a once off fee for the 12 month membership which equates to less then R17/month).
Not a student? No problem…
You can also become a Premium for FREE if you are a Standard Bank customer and between the age of 16 – 25.
Do I need the app?
Yes! In order to redeem a deal, you will need to use the Varsity Vibe App (on
Apple App Store or
Google Play Store) or make use of our WebApp (the VV website on your mobile device).
Each partner offering a deal will ask to see your completed “Redemption” screen (i.e. you have uploaded a profile pic of yourself). They will verify you are the member by looking at your profile pic and some will need to also scan your barcode / QR code or you will need to give them the voucher code.

How much does a membership cost?
Varsity Vibe Freemium memberships are FREE, duh. Get deals just for being a student.
Once verified, you can upgrade to Premium.
A Varsity Vibe Premium membership costs R200 (once-off) and is valid for 12 months from date of purchase. So, let’s say you join 15 July 2023, your membership will only expire on 15 July 2024 etc.
BUT… if you bank with Standard Bank and are between the ages of 16-25 years old, you don’t even need to be a student!
You can get VV Premium for FREE. No hidden fees, it’s part of banking with them. They’re here to help you maximise your student budget and will pay for you!
Can I pay Cash?
Yes. You can pay cash at one of our vibe agents and they will activate you on the spot.

What is a Vibe Agent?
A vibe agent is a student/someone who works for us. You can pay them the R200 membership fee in cash and they will be able to activate your Varsity Vibe membership on the spot! For more info, please check out our

How long does a Varsity Vibe membership last?
If you are a FREEmium member (ie you have verified your student status), you will need to verify this every year.
A Varsity Vibe Premium Membership is valid for 12 months from the date of payment of the R200 membership fee. That works out to less than R17/month (i.e. if you pay to be Premium on 15 July 2023, you will be a Premium member until 15 July 2024).
For those who have activated their FREE VV Premium courtesy of Standard Bank, will expire when they either no longer hold an active Standard Bank account or become older than 25 (whichever is sooner).
How can I access Varsity Vibe for FREE?
YES!
If you are a student, you can verify your student status and become a FREEmium member and get access to all our FREEmium deals.
Want to upgrade to VV Premium for FREE?
Varsity Vibe is only free for Standard Bank customers in South Africa who are between 16 – 25 years old. You don’t have to be a student. You just need to bank with them. They will cover your VV Premium membership fee, cool hey?

YES… and No. You can search for and redeem deals on the Varsity Vibe app OR our mobi-site on
www.varsityvibe.co.za.
BUT the Varsity Vibe app is the best way to keep up to date with all of our latest offerings, new partners and features – so do the right thing and download the VV app. You will need to show your completed VV profile to the shop assistant/cashier and pay with your Standard Bank (Debit/Credit) card in order to redeem your VV deals.

All good! First you will need to Verify your Varsity.
Then you can upgrade to Premium by paying your once-off R200 (valid for 365 days from date of payment).
You can pay using a whole bunch of payment options via our PayFast portal: Credit/Debit Card, Instant EFT, Snapscan, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, SCodes, Mobicred, Zapper etc
My university / college is not on the list?
You can select the “Other Uni” option and then you will need to send your student verification documentation to our support lines (below).

The verification email was sent to your student email address so please ensure you are checking the correct email address inbox. Also make sure to check your spam / junk folder.
It could also be that the student email was not correct.
Re-input your student details here and make sure the email address being populated (based on the student number and university chosen) is correct.

How do I get a Varsity Vibe card?
You can’t. The Varsity Vibe app has replaced the card. No App = No membership = No deals.
How do I get my deal?
Choose the deal you want and you can tap on the “How to Redeem” button on that deal redemption screen. This will explain to you how to redeem that specific deal.
What happens if I don’t have my phone on m...
All our retail partners have to view your Varsity Vibe “Deal Redemption” screen in order to process the deal/discount.
Maybe, you can login in via the website on someone else’s phone? If you can’t show your membership (and the deal redemption screen) to the store assistant/cashier/teller, you won’t be able to get any of the deals.
Can SB members access their deals without their ...
- App: NO. You cannot redeem your VV deal without accessing the deal redemption screen.
- Standard Bank Card: NO. You cannot redeem your deal without using your VV app in conjunction with your Standard Bank (Debit/Credit) card.
Where are the deals located?
The deals are located all over South Africa and online. To find out more on a specific deal’s location:
On your App:
- Click on the deal you are interested in. Tap on “Available at” and you will see all the locations / branches listed below as well as the “Terms & Conditions” applicable to that deal.
- Click on “Map” icon in the bottom menu. Here, you will be able to see the pinned locations for all the deals near you.
On the VV Website:
- Visit varsityvibe.co.za and click on the deal you are interested in. Click on “Available at” and you will see all the locations / branches listed below as well as the “Terms & Conditions” applicable to that deal.
- Turn on “Map” mode located on the right side of the Deals page. Here, you will be able to see the pinned locations for all the deals near you.
How many times can I use my deals?
It would be best to refer to the specific Deal Details and/or the Terms and Conditions for a specific deal.
Some deals are unlimited (use as many times as you like), some are limited to only one per day/week/2 weeks/month. Some deals are even one-time only. Some deals we may only have a certain number of vouchers available and once they are up, they will only get refilled later (make sure to follow us on Instagram as we will let our members know here when there is a new drop of codes).
What is a referral code?
A referral code is a unique 6-digit sequence, which every member is assigned should they want to refer a friend. This code lets us know which friends you have recruited using our “Refer Friends” feature. Please note: If a referral code is not used or used incorrectly the referral commission will not be transferred to you.
It also serves as your unique VV identifier so we can easily locate your details on the system.

Please Note:
Standard Bank customers get a FREE Varsity Vibe membership. If you referred such a member, then you do not get a R40 referral fee. (ie. if Varsity Vibe does not receive a R200 payment, we cannot pay a R40 commission/referral fee).
What happens if I don’t give Varsity Vibe ...
You will not make the R40 commission. If you don’t give us your details within 3 months of the code being used you forfeit any commission that we owe you and the money will be given to a charity of our choice.
How long will the referral money take to reflect...
Payment runs are done monthly. Once completed, the payment will reflect in your account normally between 48 – 72 hours.
If the details you have given us are incorrect, the payment won’t be made.
What happens if a friend forgets to use my refer...
The money will not be transferred into your account. Unfortunately, no adjustments can be made after your friend has signed up as this is all automatically generated. This is why it is very important to make sure that your friend uses your referral code at the time of sign up.
